Kadokawa has unveiled the official trailer as well as the cast and staff for the upcoming Gamera -Rebirth- anime.
The upcoming series will have a total of six episodes and it will feature Gamera fighting against five different kaiju. The kaiju confirmed thus far are: Gyaos (first seen in 1967's Gamera vs. Gyaos) and Jiger (first seen in 1970's Gamera vs. Jiger).
The show's cast are: Hisako Kanemoto (Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma) as Boko, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Sword Art Online) as Joe, Aki Toyosaki (K-ON!) as Junichi, Subaru Kimura (Kamen Rider Revice, Doraemon) as Brody, Mamoru Miyano (Ultraman Zero, Death Note) as Tazaki, and Saori Hayami (SPYxFAMILY) as Emiko.
The series will be animated by studio ENGI (Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!) and is directed by Hiroyuki Seshita (Godzilla Anime Trilogy) with Keisuke Ide (Lupin III vs. Cat's Eye) serving as assistant director. In addition, Seshita, along with Kenta Ihara (Uncle From Another World) and Hiroshi Seko (Mob Psycho 100) will write the series. These three, along with Tetsuya Yamada (Knights of Sidonia) will also pen the scripts.
Other staff members include: character designer Atsushi Tamura (Weathering With You), monster designer Kan Takahama (Heisei Gamera films), music composer Shuji Katayama (Knights of Sidonia), sound director Yoshikazu Iwanami (Fate/Zero), and line director Yuichi Ishima (Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters). Lastly, WANIMA will perform the show's ending theme. Gamera -Rebirth- is set to premiere this year, exclusively on Netflix worldwide.
