The official Violet Evergarden anime website posted the trailer for the upcoming Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memories Doll anime side story. The trailer features the anime's theme song "Amy" by Minori Chihara.
The anime will focus on Isabella, the heir to a noble house of York and attends a school for well-groomed young women, under a "contract" with her father. To her, this beautiful school is nothing more a prison. Having resigned all hope and expectations for her future, she meets her new manners teacher, Violet Evergarden.
Directed by Violet Evergarden TV anime series director Haruka Fujita, The side story will make its Japanese theatrical debut on September 6th and will now run for three weeks, from September 6 to September 26. The side story was originally planned to run for two weeks. In addition, the side story will still hold its world premiere at the AnimagiC convention in Mannheim, Germany, which will run on August 3 and 4. The organizers of said event stated that the screening will continue "at the express request of the studio."
The side story's theatrical debut was in question after the recent fire that happened in Kyoto Animation's 1st Studio Building. It is unknown if the Violet Evergarden film will still hit its planned January 22, 2020 release date.
