Talent agency Haikyo announced that voice actor Kiyoshi Kobayashi, best known to most fans as Lupin III's Daisuke Jigen has passed away. He was 89.
He passed away last July 30th due to pneumonia. His family held a private funeral, with details of his public service will be revealed at a later date.
Kobayshi played the role of Daisuke Jigen since the very beginning of the Lupin III series back in 1969. He retired playing the character in September 2021 prior to the official start of the Lupin III Part 6 anime, making him the longest serving Lupin cast member as he played the role for 52 years.
Aside from Jigen, he is also best known for other roles such as: Yokai Ningen Bem's Bem, Death Note's Watari, Space Adventure Cobra's Crystal Bowie, Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory's Aguille Delaz, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 1993 OVA's Muhammad Avdol, Spectreman's Dr. Gori, and Gekisou Sentai Carranger's VRV Master. He was also a narrator for countless shows such as Dragon Zakura, Kamen Rider BLACK, The King of Braves GaoGaiGar, and Zone Fighter. From all of us here, thank you for the memories.
