Deadline reported that the Duffer Brothers, namely Matt and Ross Duffer have formed Upside Down Pictures, in which they will develop new projects for Netflix and that includes a new Death Note series.
Best known as the co-creators of Stranger Things, the upcoming Death Note project will be a new take of Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata's popular manga of the same name. It is unknown if it will adapt the manga's original story, or it will be a different take of the manga's core concept on how a notebook that can kill people will change someone's life.
This isn't the first time Death Note was adapted into live-action as the series had three Japanese live-action films, a Japanese TV drama adaptation, and of course, a live-action film adaptation by Netflix. All adaptations have their own takes of the source material with varying degrees of success.
