Shueisha announced at their "Jump Press" video that Yuuto Suzuki's Sakamoto Days manga will get an anime adaptation. The series will star Tomokazu Sugita (Gintama, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) as Taro Sakamoto.
The series follows Taro Sakamoto, who was the ultimate assassin, feared by villains and admired by hitmen, but one day, he fell love! He retired, got married, became a father, and then... Sakamoto gained weight! this chubby man who runs the neighborhood store is actually a former legendary hitman! Can he protect his family from danger?!
The series will be animated by TMS Entertainment (Lupin III, Detective Conan) and will be directed by Masaki Watanabe (KADO - The Right Answer). It will feature scripts overseen by Taku Kishimoto (BLUELOCK, Haikyu!!), and character designs by Yo Moriyama (Lupin the IIIrd: Goemon's Blood Spray).
Sakamoto Days is set for a January 2025 release.
