Actor Ryu Manatsu, who is best known for playing Gen Ohtori/Ultraman Leo revealed in his Twitter account that fellow Ultraman actor Jiro Dan has passed away. He was 74 years old.
He passed away last March 22nd at 4:14pm JST due to lung cancer as reported by his agency, Alpha Agency. According to the agency, his condition worsened from the end of last year and was exhausted. His funeral will be held only be his close relatives.
Dan, whose birth name was Hideo Murata was best known for his role as Hideki Go/Ultraman Jack in the Return of Ultraman TV series, a role he reprised in multiple appearances in the Ultraman franchise. His last major role was in Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger as the Ryusoul Tribe Elder. From all of us here, thank you for the memories.
