It was announced that Kouji Murata's manga, Akai Ringo will get a live-action series adaptation.
The upcoming series stars Rio Komiya (Mashin Sentai Kiramager) as Hikaru Inuta, Asuka Kawazu (Kamen Rider Saber) as Yu Minase, and Yume Shinjo (Mashin Sentai Kiramager) as Misora.
15 years ago, sexual activity has become illegal in Japan after the Control of Sexual Conduct Act was passed. Hikaru Inuta is an honor student whose father is the director of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare's Sexual Enforcement Division, witnesses something shocking at a club he visits for the first time with a friend. There's a lot of people who enjoy sex with a great deal of alcohol and music! Among them is Inuta's favorite idol, Misora. In front of this unusual sight, an impulse that he's never felt runs around Inuta's body.
The upcoming series will feature music by Seiya Matsumuro, and have scripts written by Yosuke Masaike (Anime Supremacy!), Kenji Kuwajima (Video Girl AI 2018), and Rei Tsuruga. Due to the nature of the series, Momoko Nishiyama will serve as intimacy coordinator. Finally, the series will be directed by Kenji Kuwajima, Kazunari Kon, and Hiroko Onoda. Akai Ringo is set to premiere this January 22, 2023 at ABC TV in Kansai, and on January 27, 2023 at TV Kanagawa in Kanto.
