It was reported by The Hollywood Reporter that Legendary (Dune, Monsterverse) has acquired the film and TV rights for the Street Fighter video game franchise.
The studio will work with Capcom, the company that owns said video game franchise on future projects. Details about said project are yet to be revealed.
Based on the popular video game franchise of the same name, the series follows different World Warriors, primarily Ryu and Ken as they travel the world and fight other fighters in various venues. The franchise sold 49 million units worldwide, with the next installment, Street Fighter 6 coming this June 2nd. This isn't the first time the franchise was adapted in various Hollywood films, most notably 1994's Street Fighter and 2009's Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.
