The official Japanese Detective Pikachu film Twitter account announced that joining actor Ryoma Takeuchi (Kamen Rider Drive) in the film's Japanese dub cast is actress Marie Iitoyo (Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger).
Iitoyo will dub the role of Lucy Stevens (played by Kathryn Newton), a junior reporter following her first big story. As previously reported, Takeuchi will dub the film's lead character Tim Goodman (played by Justice Smith).
Detective Pikachu follows Tim Goodman and his father's former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilarious wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth as they investigate the whereabouts of Tim's father, ace private eye Harry Goodman.
Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City—a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world—they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe.
The upcoming film is written by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls) and directed by Rob Letterman (Shark Tale, Monsters vs. Aliens). Production for the film begins this year and is produced by Legendary Pictures, the film will be distributed by Universal Pictures overseas while TOHO will distribute the film in Japan. Detective Pikachu is set for a May 11th release.
