TV Asahi announced that actor Ryoma Takeuchi (Kamen Rider Drive) will star in Roppongi Class, the Japanese remake of the Korean drama seies, Itaewon Class.
Based on the webtoon by Jo Gwang Jin, the series experienced a boom in Japan when it was distributed on Netflix back in 2020. Now set in Roppongi, Takeuchi will play the role of Shin Miyabe, who lives an ordinary life with his father, but because of an incident caused by the son of the family who owns the country's largest franchise restaurant Nagaya Holding, his life complete changes.
The owner of Nagaya Holdings used his power to cover up his son's crime, causing Shin to fall into despair. He then decides to take revenge on Nagaya Holdings, with his new goal to make the father and son of Nagaya Holding to pay for what they did.
A joint Japanese and Korean production, Roppongi Class is set to premiere this July, and will air every Thursday at 9pm JST on TV-Asahi. It will then be available online via TELASA in Japan. It is unknown if just like Itaewon Class, it will get an overseas release via Netflix.
