Bandai Namco Group unveiled the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury anime.
The teaser trailer revealed the show's first main female protagonist in a mainline Gundam series. She pilots the Gundam Aerial. This series is also the first new Gundam TV anime since Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans, which first aired seven years ago. As previously reported, the series is planned for a 2022 release.
It was also stated by Bandai Namco Entertainment's Chief Gundam Officer Koji Fujiwara last September when it was first announced that they aim to create a work that even young generations will support. He added, "We are making bigger developments than ever before." In addition, the series will get a prequel project simply titled Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Prologue.
The prequel is a full-fledged project that features its own story and Mobile Suits, most notably, the Gundam Lfrith and Beguir-Beu.
The prologue will debut this summer, in multiple venues, namely: the Gundam Factory Yokohama, the life-sized Gundam Unicorn statue in Odaiba, the life-size Freedom Gundam statue in Shanghai, the life-size RX-93ffν Gundam statue in Fukuoka, and the upcoming Gundam Base Virtual World in the planned Gundam Metaverse project. The project will later debut at later date in events in Japan, and around the world.
