Netflix has unveiled at this year's Geeked Week the official teaser trailer and new details for the upcoming live-action Yu Yu Hakusho series.
The series will star Takumi Kitamura (Tokyo Revengers) as Yusuke Urameshi, Jun Shison as (Ressha Sentai ToQGer) as Kurama, Kanata Hongo (live-action Attack on Titan films) as Hiei, and Shuhei Uesugi (24 JAPAN) as Kazuma Kuwabara.
Joining the show's cast are: Sei Shiraishi (Toki wo Kakeru Bando) as Keiko Yukimura, Kotone Furukawa (Pending Train) as Botan, Ai Mikami (The Legend & Butterfly) as Yukina, Hiroya Shimizu (Tokyo Revengers) as Karasu, Keita Machida (Alice in Borderland) as Koenma, Meiko Kaji (Lady Snowblood) as Genkai, Kenichi Takito (Rurouni Kenshin) as Older Toguro, Goro Inagaki (Kamen Rider G, SMAP×SMAP) as Sakyo, and Go Ayano (Kamen Rider 555) as Younger Toguro.

As previously reported, Netflix contents acquisition director Kazutaka Sakamoto will serve as executive producer with Akira Morii (Wild 7, Brave Heart Umizaru) as producer over at ROBOT (Alice in Borderland). Sakamoto stated that he grew up with the original manga and he vividly remembers its excitement and impact. He also stated that Netflix is assembling a team of the best talent from Japan and abroad. The series is also filming in Toho Studios' Stage 7 and Stage 10 sound stage facilities. The series will be directed by Sho Tsukikawa (live-action Let Me Eat Your Pancreas) with special effects by Scanline (Stranger Things).
Yu Yu Hakusho follows delinquent Yusuke Urameshi who dies after saving a child in a car accident. The Spirit World was surprised by his death offers him a second chance in life and work for them as a "spirit detective" who is tasked to defeat demons.
Yu Yu Hakusho is set to premiere this December 14th, exclusively on Netflix.
