More than three decades after Yu Yu Hakusho by Yoshihiro Togashi first captured the imagination of readers, the beloved manga gets a live-action adaptation.

As previously reported, Netflix contents acquisition director Kazutaka Sakamoto will serve as executive producer with Akira Morii (Wild 7, Brave Heart Umizaru) as producer over at ROBOT (Alice in Borderland). Sakamoto stated that he grew up with the original manga and he vividly remembers its excitement and impact. He also stated that Netflix is assembling a team of the best talent from Japan and abroad. The series is also filming in Toho Studios' Stage 7 and Stage 10 sound stage facilities. The series will be directed by Sho Tsukikawa (live-action Let Me Eat Your Pancreas).
Yu Yu Hakusho follows delinquent Yusuke Urameshi who dies after saving a child in a car accident. The Spirit World was surprised by his death offers him a second chance in life and work for them as a "spirit detective" who is tasked to defeat demons.
