The official live-action One Piece and Eiichiro Oda's official Twitter accounts has announced the cast for the upcoming series.
Playing the first five Straw Hat Pirates are: Iñaki Godoy (Who Killed Sara?) as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu (Rurouni Kenshin: Final Chapter) as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd (Feat Street) as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson (Greenleaf) as Usopp, and Taz Skylar (Boiling Point) as Sanji.

In addition, series creator Eiichiro Oda, who also served as the show's executive producer also posted a message about the cast. Oda said, "We've been working with Netflix and Tomorrow Studios on the massive project that is the Hollywood live action series adaptation of ONE PIECE! How many years has it been since it was announced, right? I know, I know! But rest assured we've been making steady progress all along!"
As to why they announce the cast now, he stated, "It's not easy when you're working with people from different cultures! But it's precisely that process that can yield something special! For now, we're able to announce the main cast! Rather, we need to hurry and announce it or else it'll be leaked, apparently! Hilarious, lol."

Luffy and his first crewmate, the pirate hunter Roronoa Zoro. As previously reported, the series will be produced by Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios (Cowboy Bebop, Snowpiercer), with Adelstein stating that the series will start with the very first arc of the series, the East Blue Arc. He also stated that the series promises to create "a true One Piece" after he discussed the project with series creator Eiichiro Oda personally. Oda previously stated that he will "never betray the fans who have supported me for 20 years."
