It was announced by talent agency Aoni Production that prolific voice actor Makio Inoue has passed away. He was 80 years old.
The voice actor passed away last November 29th after his health worsened after a chronic heart attack.
Inoue is best known as the voice of Goemon Ishikawa XIII in the Lupin III franchise starting in 1977's Lupin III: Part II anime till 2010's Lupin III: The Last Job anime special. This role was later passed on to Daisuke Namikawa in 2011 starting with Lupin III: Blood Seal of the Eternal Mermaid anime special. Aside from being the voice of Goemon, he is also the voice of Captain Harlock in his various appearances starting with 1978's Space Pirate Captain Harlock anime series.
Aside from these two popular roles, he is also the voice Star of the Giants' Mitsuru Hanagata, Candy Candy's William Albert Ardlay, Mobile Suit Gundam's Slegger Law, Akumaizer 3's Zabitan, and Kingdom Hearts' Master Eraqus.
