SciFi Japan reported that Mill Creek Entertainment has obtained the official license to release the Ultraman franchise in North America in home video from Tsuburaya Productions.
In short, Mill Creek has the entire Ultraman catalog that they can distribute in both physical and digital distributions and that means over 1,100 TV episodes and 20 films in the franchise's over 50-year history. In the company's first release starting with this agreement, they will release Ultra Q and the original Ultraman TV series in Blu-ray in both regular and steelbook editions. Both series are set for an October 15th release.
Compared to Mill Creek's original Ultraman DVD release and Shout! Factory's Ultra Q DVD release, this Blu-ray release will the recent Ultra Q and Ultraman Blu-ray release, which were remastered in HD with DTS-HD Master Audio of the original soundtrack with English subtitles.
