Nikkei reported that TV Asahi is producing an anime specifically aimed for the Philippine market tiled Barangay 143.
The new anime is a collaboration with Philippine animation and game developer Synergy88. TV Asahi will handle the character design and direction in the Japanese side while Synergy88 is in-charge with the scripts and production. The series will tell the story of a group basketball players in Manila.
Barangay 143 is set for a 2017 release, but it doesn't specify if this is the Japanese release or the Philippine release in a "prime-time" schedule. The report also stated that the series may be exported later to other Southeast Asian markets.
