Aniplex's stage presentation at the AnimeJapan 2021 event has unveiled the new teaser trailer for the upcoming Sword Art Online -Progressive- Aria of the Starless Night film.
Sword Art Online -Progressive- is the retelling of the original Sword Art Online story, but it will retell the story, floor-by-floor. The film will also introduce a new character named Mito (played by Inori Minase). Lastly, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Haruka Tomatsu will reprise their roles as Kirto and Asuna respectively.
The film will be directed by Ayako Kawano (The Seven Deadly Sins the Movie: Prisoners of the Sky) and it will be once again animated by A-1 Pictures. The film will also feature character designs by Kento Toya (Sword Art Online: Alicization), action direction by Yasuyuki Kai, and Yuki Kajiura returns to compose to the film's music.
Sword Art Online -Progressive- Aria of the Starless Night is set for a fall release.
