It was announced at the final day of the SANKYO presents Walküre FINAL LIVE TOUR 2023 concerts that the Macross anime franchise will get a new project from studio Sunrise.
Sunrise is of course, best known as the studio behind the Mobile Suit Gundam and Love Live! franchises, elements of which that are common with the Macross franchise, namely war, giant robots and idols respectively. Details about this new anime project such as if this will be a new TV anime series or a theatrical film will be revealed in a later date.
The last major Macross project was the Macross Delta anime project, which first started in 2016 with a TV series, and later got two compilation films with some changes namely, Macross Delta the Movie: Passionate Walküre and Macross Delta the Movie: Absolute Live!!!!!!
