Variety reported that this year's Sonic the Hedgehog film by Paramount Pictures and Sega Sammy will get a sequel.
The sequel will retain the same staff from the first film, with Jeff Fowler directing, and Pat Casey and Josh Miller writing the film's script. The film is produced by Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher and Toru Nakahara, with Hajime Satomi, Haruki Satomi and Tim Miller serving as executive producers.
The film is still in its early stages of development, but if the final moments of the film is an indication, the sequel will feature the appearance of Sonic's pal, Miles "Tails" Prower, who made his first appearance in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 game for the Sega Genesis.
