The posters for the upcoming Inemuri Iwane film was revealed. The upcoming film is based on Yasuhide Saeki's novel and stars Tori Matsuzaka (Samurai Sentai Shinkenger) as Iwane Sakazaki.
Iwane Sakazaki is childhood friends with Kinpei Kobayashi and Shinnosuke Kawade and they received training at the same dojo. Kinpei's younger sister, Mai is married to Shinnosuke, while Iwane will marry Kinpei and Mai's younger sister, Mao. These three are like brothers, but that changed when Shinnosuke heared rumors that his wife Mai is having an affair and kills her. Kinpei becomes enraged that his younger sister was murdered and kills Shinnosuke. To punish Kinpei, Iwane is ordered to kill his friend.
Filming for this period drama took placed in Kitsuki, Oita Prefecture and around the Kyoto suburbs from March to April 2018. Written by Yuki Fujimoto (Hana Yori Dango) and directed by Katsuhide Motoki (Samurai Hustle) and is set for a May 17, 2019 release in Japan.
