Shin Ultraman Debuts at #1 at Japanese Box Office

Eiga reported that Shin Ultraman debuted at #1 at the Japanese box office. 

The film debuted during the May 14-15 weekend and was screened in a total of 362 cinemas, was watched by 640,000 people, and earned a total of 990 million yen in just three days, making this the highest grossing Ultraman film of all time, beating 2008's Superior 8 Ultra Brothers, which originally held the record for 838 million yen. In addition, this is also the best opening weekend for director Shinji Higuchi as it exceeded the earnings of his previous films, namely: Shin Godzilla and Sinking of Japan.

Below Shin Ultraman in the box office during that weekend are: Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween (#2), Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (#3), Crayon Shin-chan: Mononoke Ninja Chinpuden (#4), and Wandering (#5).
