New details for the previously announced new Rurouni Kenshin anime was revealed at the Aniplex Online Fest 2022 event, confirming that this is a new adaptation of the original manga.
The series will star Soma Saito (Moriarty the Patriot) as Kenshin Himura, and Rie Takahashi (Fate/Grand Order) as Kaoru Kamiya. The roles were previously played by Mayo Suzukaze and Miki Fujitani in the original 90s anime and the OVAs.
As previously reported, LINDEN FILMS (Initial D Legend 1, Berserk) will animate the new series. In addition, Hideyo Yamamoto (Cells at Work! Code Black) will direct the anime with scripts written by Hideyuki Kurata (Read or Die). Terumi Nishii (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable) will serve as character designer, and Yu Takami (Library Wars) will compose the show's music.
