Variety reported that actor Ludi Lin (Power Rangers, Aquaman) is in negotiations to join the upcoming Mortal Kombat film reboot as Liu Kang. The actor later confirmed via Twitter of his involvement in the film.

One of the seven original characters of the Mortal Kombat game series, Liu Kang is a Shaolin Monk who tries to save the Earth by fighting for supremacy in a tournament. The role was originally played by Robin Shou in the first two live-action Mortal Kombat films.
The upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot will be released by New Line Cinema and is produced by James Wan (Aquaman, The Conjuring) and directed by Simon McQuoid. The film is currently in pre-production and is expected for a March 2021 release. Shooting for the film will begin later this year in Adelaide, Australia.
