Nintendo Unveils the Super NES Classic Edition

The SNES Mini (North American Version)

​Nintendo officially announced the Super NES Classic Edition, a smaller version of the original SNES released in the 90's that comes with 21 pre-loaded games. 

Similar to the previously released NES Classic Edition, the SNES Classic Edition comes with one HDMI cable, one USB power cable, and its respective controller, but unlike the NES Mini, the SNES Mini comes with two SNES controllers. As for the games, this system comes with 21 games, and the games that are available to the North American, European, and Japanese versions of the console are:

Contra III: The Alien Wars, Donkey Kong Country, Final Fantasy VI, F-Zero, Kirby Super Star, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Mega Man X, Secret of Mana, Star Fox, Super Ghouls'n Ghost, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Super Mario World, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, and Super Metroid.

As for the games exclusive to the North American and European versions, these games are: EarthBound (Mother 2), Kirby's Dream Course, Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting, Super Castlevania IV, and Super Punch-Out!!. Now for the games exclusive to the Japanese version, these games are: Super Soccer, Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, Panel de Pon, The Legend of the Mystical Ninja, and Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers.

Aside from these classics, the SNES Mini will also include the never before released Star Fox 2, the sequel to the original Star Fox for the SNES! Originally planned to be released around the tail end of the SNES' life span, the game was silently cancelled before it received a proper release as the game was already completed before the cancellation. The closest thing fans got a chance to play the game was via emulation, this is the first time fans can play the game legally. 

The SNES Mini will be available in North America and in Europe on September 29th, and on October 5th in Japan.
