Three new AKB48 sister groups were announced at the HaruCon event that took place in Yokohama. These three groups are TPE48, MNL48, and BNK48.
These three new overseas sister groups are based in Taipei, Taiwan, Manila, Philippines, and Bangkok, Thailand respectively. All of these groups are planned to start this year.
In addition, the color of the logo of each idol group represents the place they are based in. TPE48's logo features a gradient orange and yellow color, which represents the mango, Taiwan's national fruit. It also represents the growth of each member.
MNL48's logo features the color blue, one of the colors of the national flagl and BNK48's logo features the orchid color, a popular flower in the country.
