The official Netflix YouTube channel posted the trailer of the upcoming Netflix exclusive anime series, Devilman: Crybaby. The series commemorates the 50th anniversary of series creator Go Nagai's career.
Nagai's original Devilman manga was lauded as an "eternal masterpiece" that could never be completely recreated in moving images, but the new anime aims to adapt the series in its entirety. In the series, Akira Fudo learns from his best friend, Ryo Asuka that an ancient race of demons has returned to take over the world. The only way to stop them is to incorporate their supernatural powers, and suggests that he unite with a demon himself. Akira succees and becomes Devilman, a being that possesses both the powers of a demon and the sould of a human. The battle of Devilman and Akira Fudo begins.
The upcoming series is animated by Science SARU and is directed by Masaaki Yuasa (Ping Pong the Animation). The series is written by Ichiro Okouchi (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion), with Eunyoung Choi as the show's animation producer, and kensuke ushio (Space Dandy, A Silent Voice) composing the music.
Devilman: Crybaby is set to premiere in spring 2018, and is available in 190 countries or territories in different languages and subtitles.
