TMS announced that the Lupin III and Cat's Eye franchises will have a CG crossover anime titled Lupin the 3rd vs. Cat's Eye.
The trailer confirmed that Kanichi Kurita and Keiko Toda will both reprise their respective roles as Lupin III and Hitomi Kisugi respectively.
This new project celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Lupin III anime, and the 40th anniversary of the Cat's Eye manga. Set in the 1980s (hence Lupin wearing a pink jacket as seen in Lupin III Part 3), the Cat's Eye sisters are again aiming to steal three paintings that once belonged to their father, but Lupin also wants said paintings. These paintings will also reveal a long-buried mystery.
The upcoming film will be animated by TMS Entertainment and is directed by Knights of Sidonia and Godzilla anime movie trilogy directors Kobun Shizuno and Hiroyuki Seshita, with script written by Shuji Kuzuhara (Pazudora), and Keisuke Ide (Levius) serving as assistant director. In addition, Lupin III composer Yuji Ohno and Cat's Eye composer Kazuo Otani will return to compose the music.
Lupin the 3rd vs. Cat's Eye is set to premiere this 2023, exclusively on Prime Video worldwide.
