It was announced that Anashin's Waiting for Spring manga will get a live-action film adaptation this winter.
The original manga follows Mizuki, a high school freshman who ends up becoming fast friends with the four stars of the boys' basketball team! This all started when these four drop by the café where they quickly hit it off. Soon she's been accidentally thrust into the spotlight and is targeted by jealous girls. Aside from friendship, will she find love?
The film stars Tao Tsuchiya (Ultraman Zero: Revenge of Belial, Rurouni Kenshin) as Mizuki Haruno. Also part of the film's cast are: Yuta Koseki (Laughing Under the Clouds) as Aya Kamiyama, Mizuki's childhood friend; Takumi Kitamura (Let Me Eat Your Pancreas), Yu Inaba (Kamen Rider Drive), Hayato Isomura (Kamen Rider Ghost), and Yosuke Sugino (Anonymous Noise) as the four kings of the basketball team, namely, Towa Asakura, Rui Miyamoto, Kyosuke Wakamiya, and Ryuji Tada.
The upcoming film is directed by Yuichiro Hirakawa (Netflix's Erased) and is written by Satoko Okazaki (Tiger & Bunny). The film is produced by Office Crescendo with Warner Bros. Japan distributing the film.
