The official GTO Revival Twitter account announced the returning cast members for the upcoming special.
These returning cast members from the 1998 GTO live-action series are: Hiroyuki Ikeuchi (Ip Man) as Kunio Murai, Yuta Yamazaki (Suicide Club) as Masaru Watanabe, Yosuke Kubozuka (Ikebukuro West Gate Park) as Yoshito Kikuchi, Hidenori Tokuyama (Engine Sentai Go-Onger) as Kenji Youda, Shun Oguri (Gintama) as Noboru Yoshikawa, and Naohito Fujiki (Natsuzora: Natsu's Sky) as Ryuji Saejima.

In the special, Onizuka becomes a teacher to Sotoku Academy, a school currently troubled by a popular online influencer exposing the secrets of both students and faculty. Everyone at school is suspicious of everyone else, thinking that the influencer is someone who studies or works there. Times has changed since the 90s, and troubles caused by social media has increased. In a world where the rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer, and life is becoming more and more difficult, can Onizuka become the new hero of the Reiwa era?
