Toei announced that Jasmine Gyuh's Back Street Girls manga will get a live-action film adaptation titled "Back Street Girls -Gokudols-".
Based on the manga of the same name, the manga follows Kentaro Yamamoto, Ryo Tachibana, and Kazuhiko Sugihara, 3 yakuza members who were punished for their failures and have undergone major surgery to become an idol trio! What happens when these three yakuzas become the next big pop sensation?
The upcoming film will star Jin Shirasu (Erased JDrama) & Natsumi Okamoto (Kakegurui JDrama, Kamen Rider 1) as Kentaro Yamamoto, Reiya Masaki (All Esper Dayo!) & Ruka Matsuda (Kamen Rider Ex-Aid), and Masato Hanazawa (Rikuoh) & Akane Sakanoue (Ultraman X) as Kazuhiko Sugihara.
Also part of the film's cast are: Tetsuya Sugaya (Terrace House), Nana Asakawa (Saki Achiga-hen episode of Side-A), Hitoshi Ozawa (Imagination Game), Dori Sakurada (Farewell, Kamen Rider Den-O: Final Countdown), Ren Osugi (Kamen Rider Decade the Movie: All Riders vs. Dai-Shocker), and Kouichi Iwaki (My Boss My Hero). Directed by Keinosuke Hara (Code: M, Arakawa Under the Bridge JDrama), the film is set for a February 8, 2019 release in Japan.
