The official Let Me Eat Your Pancreas anime film website has unveiled more information about the upcoming film, including the film's cast, staff, and trailer.
Mahiro Takasugi (Kamen Rider Gaim) will play the role of the unnamed protagonist while Lynn (Keijo!) will play the role of Sakura Yamuchi. Based on Yoru Sumino's novel of the same name, it follows the point of view of an unnamed protagonist who found a girl's diary in a hospital one day. This girl is Sakura, his classmate who is revealed to be suffering a terminal illness in her pancreas and only has a few months to live.
She explains that the protagonist and her family are the only ones who know and her condition and asked the protagonist to keep it a secret. Despite their completely opposite personalities, the protagonist decides to be together with Sakura during her last few months. The novel was previously adapted into a live-action film starring Takumi Kitamura (DISH//) and Minami Hamabe (Anohana, Kakegurui) in said roles, which premiered in Japan back in July 28, 2017. Funny enough, Hamabe and Takasugi, who plays the male protagonist in the anime are co-stars in the Kakegurui drama.
The upcoming film is written and directed by Shinichiro Ushijima (Chihayafuru) with Yuichi Oka (Honey and Clover II) serving as the chief animation director and character designer. Hiroko Sebu (Strobe Edge) will compose the film's music with Studio VOLN (Ushio & Tora) animating the film. The Let Me Eat Your Pancreas anime film is set for a September 1st premiere.
