More details about the upcoming Kamen Rider Black Sun project was revealed at the Tamashii Nation Online 2021 event.
It is confirmed that the project will be a movie and it will star Hidetoshi Nishijima (What Did You Eat Yesterday?) and Tomoya Nakamura (Lost and Found) as Kotaro Minami/Kamen Rider Black Sun and Nobuhiko Akizuki/Kamen Rider Shadowmoon respectively. Just like in the original TV series, both Kotaro and Nobuhiko were born during a solar eclipse at the same day and the same time, making them candidates to become the Creation King, the pinnacle of monsters. Unlike the original TV series in which they are adopted brothers, the two are now just close friends. The two are remodeled to become Kamen Riders.
The event has also unveiled Kamen Rider Black Sun's transformation belt, which will soon get a Complete Selection Modification release under the name Kamen Rider Black Sun Henshin Belt. In addition, we also get our first look at Kamen Rider Black Sun's bike, the Battle Hopper. Said bike will be displayed to the public at the Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show 2021, which will happen on December 5th. Finally, the S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Black Sun was also confirmed in the event as well.
A reboot of the classic Kamen Rider Black TV series, the film will be directed by Kazuya Shiraishi (Kyoaku, The Blood of Wolves) with scripts written by Izumi Takahashi (live-action Tokyo Revengers film), concept visuals by Shinji Higuchi (Heisei Gamera Trilogy, Shin Godzilla) and Kiyotaka Taguchi (Ultraman Z) as special effects director. Kamen Rider Black Sun is set for a 2022 release.
