Hi Score Girl Season 2 Anime Announced

The official Hi Score Girl anime website announced that the series will get a second season. The announcement was first made at the "Hi Score Girl Round 13-15 Screening & Cast Talk Show" event.

The staff of the first season will return to work on the second season, except for Eri Sekido, who will be replaced by Yuya Hatano as the character modeling director. Notable returning staff members include: director Yoshiki Yamakawa (Kill Me Baby), series writer Tatsuhiko Urahata (Hajime no Ippo), character designer Michiru Kuwabata (Penguin no Mondai), music composer Yoko Shimomura (Street Fighter II), and anime studio J.C. Staff (Shakugan no Shana, Shokugeki no Soma). 

In addition, the cast from the first season will return to reprise their roles for this season. The trailer teased that the second season will be the final season of the series. The original manga ended last September 2018.

Based on Rensuke Oshikiri's manga of the same name, this "90s arcade romantic comedy" starts in the year 1991, during the 2D fighting game boom. The series follows a chronic gamer named Haruo, who is abysmally inept in academics and sports. He meets his match at his usual shadey arcade, and it's his rich classmate, Akira. 

Hi Score Girl Season 2 is set for an October release in Japan. Details for its worldwide release is yet to be announced. All 13 episodes of the first season, including the 3-episode Extra Stage OVA is now streaming on Netflix worldwide. [WATCH IT NOW]
