Hakusensha announced that manga creator Hisaya Nakajo has passed away last October 12th at 8:52pm due to a heart condition. She was 50 years old.
Born in Osaka on September 12, 1973, she won the Hakusensha Athena Newcomers' Awards back in 1993 for her Manatsu no Hanzaisha manga. Her first major manga serialization was Heart no Kajitsu, which was first published in Hakusensha's Hana to Yume magazine in 1994.
But her defining work would be Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (translates as For You in Full Bloom), also known as Hana-Kimi, which was first published in 1996. The manga was adapted into a live-action series in Japan back in 2007 and in 2011, and got overseas live-action adaptations in Taiwan in 2006, and in South Korea in 2012, which went by the title "To the Beautiful You".
