Gundam Build Divers, the next installment to Sunrise's Gundam Build Fighters franchise was announced!
First teased last December, the official Gundam YouTube channel gives us a taste of this new series thanks to a prologue episode. The prologue features the following description:
The Gunpla Force Battle Tournament is a big event held in GBN once per year. Competing in the final round are Avalon, led by the champion Kyoya Kujo (played by Jun Kasama), and the elite 7th Panzer Division led by the cunning Rommel (played by Sho Hayami). Starting with Kyoya's Gundam AGE II Magnum, a variety of Gunpla take to the field to determine which is the strongest force!
The prologue gives us a taste of what should we expect in the series once it premieres. For starters, the entire tournament takes place in a virtual reality simulator in which fighters "dive" into for Gunpla Battles. In addition, more Mobile Suits from Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and Mobile Suit Gundam AGE will be featured in the series. The prologue also introduced us to the show's main protagonist, Riku Mikami (played by Yusuke Kobayashi) and his Gunpla, the Gundam 00 Diver; and his friend, Yukio Hidaka (played by Natsumi Fujiwara).
Shinji Wada, who directed some episodes of Gundam Build Fighters and Gundam Build Fighters Try will now serve as the series' chief director with Noburu Kimura (Crush Gear Turbo) writing the show's scripts. Gundam Build Divers is set to premiere this spring.
