The official Legendary Pictures YouTube channel has unveiled the title for the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong film sequel.
Titled "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire", the film takes place after said showdown and will pit the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.
The cast members returning to the currently untitled sequel are: Rebecca Hall (The Night House Resurrection), Brian Tyree Henry (Bullet Train, Atlanta), and Kaylee Hottle (Godzilla vs. Kong). Joining the film's cast aside from the previously announced Dan Stevens (Beauty and the Beast, Legion) are: Fala Chen (Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Alex Ferns (The Batman), and Rachel House (Thor: Ragnarok).
Adam Wingard (Death Note) returns to the direct the sequel with script written by Terry Rossio (Godzilla vs. Kong), Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight), and Simon Barrett (You're Next). The untitled Godzilla vs. Kong sequel is set for a March 15, 2024 release.
