One of those humans is Haruo, who saw his parents killed by Godzilla when he was 4 years old, and has only thing in mind for 20 years, to return to Earth and defeat the Godzilla. With their ship deteriorating, Haruo and his group of Earth Returnists became the majority and determines to head back to Earth via a dangerious long-distance hyperspace navigation. However, they returned to an Earth 20,000 years in the future and is now ruled by Godzilla. At the end, can humanity reclaim Earth?
- Mamoru Miyano (Death Note, Gundam 00, Ultraman Zero) as Haruo Sakaki, the film's protagonist
- Takahiro Sakurai (Code Geass, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable, Ultraman Orb, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger) as Metphies, the Exif alien who understands Haruo well
- Kana Hanazawa (Durarara!!, Oreimo, Nisekoi) as Yuko Tani, Haruo's childhood friend
- Tomokazu Sugita (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency, Gintama, Kamen Rider Kiva) as Martin Lazarri, an optimistic environmental biologist working with the military
- Yuuki Kaji (Attack on Titan) as Adam Bindewald, a young landing ship pilot who respects Haruo
- Junichi Suwabe (Fate/stay night, Kuroko's Basketball) as Mulu-Elu Galu-gu, a Bilsard alien
The film is animated by POLYGON PICTURES is directed by Kobun Shizuno (Fist of the North Star: The Legend of Kenshiro, various Detective Conan films) and Hiroyuki Seshita (Ajin, Knights of Sidonia) with Nitroplus's Gen Urobuchi (Kamen Rider Gaim, Fate/Zero) credited for the film's concept and screenplay.
Godzilla: Monster Planet is set for a November release in Japan, and a worldwide release in 2018 via Netflix.
