It was revealed at the 38th issue of this year's Weekly Shonen Jump that Hideaki Sorachi's Gintama manga only has five chapters left before the series ends.
If there are no delays, the manga is expected to end on September 15th. The manga entered its final arc, the Silver Soul Arc back in July 2016.
The series began its serialization in 2004 and continues to be ranked among the top-selling manga in Japan with over 55 million copies in print in Japan alone. The series adapted into an anime series, which later spun two movies. Gintama was also adapted into two live-action movies and has two tie-in drama mini series.
