The film launched a Campfire crowdfunding campaign for a pilot version of said film, which aims to raise 5 million yen (around US$37,600), and the reason behind it is for them to test filming and production techniques, but warns backers that the project will be more in line with the length and scope of Japanese films, and not Hollywood films. Said campaign will end on April 19th, and as of this writing, has already reached said goal with over 10 million yen raised.
The film will be produced, written, and directed by Junya Okabe (Akiba-chan). In addition, Okabe will co-write the film alongside other writers including Yoshiaki Tabata (Young Black Jack). The live-action Getter Robo is planned for a spring 2025 release to commemorate the franchise's 50th anniversary.
