It was announced at this year's The Game Awards that Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII will join the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game as a DLC character.
First making his debut in Final Fantasy VII for the original PlayStation back in 1997, he is the game's primary antagonist. His archenemy, Cloud Strife is part of the Super Smash Bros. series since Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS as a DLC character. Cloud later became part of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's initial roster of characters as well. Final Fantasy VII didn't get a proper Nintendo home console release until in March 2019 when the game was released for the Nintendo Switch.
Sephiroth is part of the game's second Fighters Pass, which includes Arms' Min Min and Minecraft's Steve and Alex. The Fighters Pass cost US$29.99 and it will include six different characters, three of which are yet to be revealed. You can also purchase each brand new individual character for US$5.99. Aside from the new character, the DLC will also include additional music and a brand new stage.
