It was announced at the Jump Festa '20 event that the Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai manga will get a new anime adaptation.
Toei Animation (Dragon Ball, Digimon), the same studio that adapted the series back in the early 90's returns to animate the new adaptation, which is a hybrid of CG and 2D animation. The original 37-volume manga, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1989-1996, follows Dai and his friend, Pop as they go off on a journey to avenge their master Avan and bring peace back to the world.
Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai anime is set for a fall 2020 release. In addition, the manga will get a new game adaptation with long-time Dragon Quest producer Ryutaro Ichimura producing the game. Other details such as the platform and release date are yet to be announced.
