A new official trailer for the upcoming Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake game was revealed at the recent Nintendo Direct.
Originally released in the NES in 1988, the game takes place years prior to the events of the original Dragon Quest game and follows the hero Erdrick and his party as they are tasked with saving the world from the archfiend Baramos.
As the name suggest, the game will feature a new HD-2D art style, which features sprite-based art for the characters, but with 3D backgrounds and dynamic lighting and effects, which is similar to Octopath Traveler.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is set for a November 14th release for the Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam.

Lastly, the trailer also revealed that the Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is coming this 2025. To commemorate said announcement, Square Enix designer Naoki Ikushima was commissioned to create the artwork seen above to signify the new direction the Erdrick Trilogy is taking.
