Much to my surprise, the subtle changes involve the expansion of Sela's story and what's happening in the real world, and not what's happening in the dream world. I liked that this is what we got instead of a 10-minute loop of the exact same scene. Speaking of which, since we all know that they are in a nightmare loop, the episode expands on the plot of the player, which is really ingenious plan come to think of it. I mean, the world is destroyed while they are in an endless looping dream and since these are humans we are talking about; it will take them time before they realized that they are in a loop.
Because they realized that there is something wrong, Yamato and Sela started to recap what happened before they got stuck in this loop. What we got is a touching moment featuring Sela. For a touch shark, she's quite a softie. She misses her family and this is the first time she'll miss her parents' wedding anniversary. This scene made me realize what is Yamato's role in the series, not only that he is the designated adult, he is unintentionally doing his job as a zoologist. He understands Sela's problem and like a good man of science, he finds a solution, in this case, he suggest that she'll write a letter to her parents. It's a touching moment and it turns out that this act not only helped Sela, but it also helped the team as a whole.
Thanks to the player, Cube Komori's sleep was disturbed, and with them discovering its whereabouts, it is time for one final fight and for Cube Komori to have its revenge. Cube Komori's regular debut in the episode felt a bit tacked on in my opinion. I get the idea of a Cube Animal getting tangled by the enemy vines, but to be honest, Cube Komori steals the spotlight from the rest of the team. I get that this is a new weapon debut, but man, instead of seeing a new ally that will aide our heroes, all I see is Bandai shoving in a new toy to sell.
