It was announced at the 24th issue of this year's Weekly Shonen Sunday that Gosho Aoyama's Yaiba manga will get a new anime adaptation.
The series was previously adapted into a 52-episode anime, which first aired in April 1993. Aoyama will supervise this new adaptation, and will be a complete adaptation of the 24-volume manga. He also illustrated the poster seen in the announcement.
The original series follows Yaiba Kurogane, a young samurai boy inspired by Miyamoto Musashi, the real-life swordsman who pioneered the Hyoho Niten Ichi-ryu style of two-sword fighting and wrote The Book of Five Rings, a classic on military strategy.
