Toei and Shochiku posted the official trailer for the upcoming kaiju comedy film, Daikaijyu no Atoshimatsu (What to Do with the Dead Kaiju?).
The film will star Ryosuke Yamada (Fullmetal Alchemist, Assassination Classroom) and Tao Tsuchiya (Ultraman Zero, Rurouni Kenshin) as Arata Tatewaki and Yukino Amane respectively. The last time Tsuchiya was involved with giant monsters was with Ultraman Zero Gaiden: Killer the Beatstar, which was first released in November and December 2011.
Also part of the film's cast are: Gaku Hamada (Operation Love) as Masahiko Amane, Joe Odagiri (Kamen Rider Kuuga) as Blues, and Toshiyuki Nishida (Doctor-X) as Kan Nishiotachime.
In the film, a giant monster attacks Japan, but it suddenly dies and it is only a matter of time that a gas explosion will take place from the remains of the monster, which could lead to the collapse of the country. Arata is assigned to lead a special task form team in this critical area and her ex-fiancee, Yukino appears in front of him and she is also the secretary to the environment minister.
Written and directed by Satoshi Miki (Adrift in Tokyo), the film is set for a February 4, 2022 release.
