This OAD features an original story that connects the previous Sakura Card Arc and the Clear Card Arc as the story takes place prior to the start of the Clear Card Arc.
The director of the first anime and the two anime films, Morio Asaka returns to direct the new anime while CLAMP's Nanase Ohkawa writing the scripts of the new series. Lastly, Studio Madhouse returns to animate the series. The new anime series is set for a January 7, 2018 release on NHK BS Premium.
