The official Tezuka Productions website posted the first trailer for the Atom the Beginning anime series. The upcoming anime serves as the untold "episode zero" leading up the birth of Astro Boy.
After a great calamity in Japan, two geniuses dreamed of the future. These two are Umataro Tenma and Hiroshi Ochanomizu. The two worked day and night in robot research, but they have two different goals. Tenma wanted to create a "god" while Ochanomizu wanted to create a "friend". Born of this collaboration is the A106 robot. Would A106 become a god or a friend?
Based on the original manga by Tetsuro Kasahara (Rideback) with Masami Yuuki (Patlabor) credited with "concept works" for the series. Katsuyuki Motohiro (Psycho-Pass) serves as the series' chief director with the series written by Jun'ichi Fujisaku (Blood+, Appleseed XIII) and animation by OLM, Production I.G, Signal.MD.
Atom the Beginning is set for a spring 2017 release.
