To commemorate the digital release of Marvel's Ant-Man and the Wasp, Fandango recently had a Twitter Q&A with the film's director Peyton Reed. What's interesting is one of the questions one fan asked about the film.
For years since Ant-Man first made his Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut, fans compared the MCU Ant-Man suit to a suit from the Kamen Rider franchise. This is why Twitter user @RiderJetfire asked the director, "The look of Ant-Man in the movies really reminds me of the Japanese superhero series Kamen Rider. Was there ever any inspiration taken from that franchise?"
In which the director replied that the look wasn't inspired by Kamen Rider, but they have referenced both Ultraman and Super Inframan when they were discussing the suit. Both properties fall under the tokusatsu genre, the same genre Kamen Rider is in, which is close enough.
