To commemorate the 45th anniversary of the The☆Ultraman anime, Tsuburaya announced that the series will get an HD remaster, which will be available on a Blu-ray box set!
That said, all 50 episodes of the first Ultraman anime are restored from the 35mm HD telecine footage to beatiful HD footage. Some of the bonus features include special interviews with the cast and staff of the series that were broadcast on the cable TV program called "Ultra Information Bureau", as well as rare footage such as creditless opening and ending credits.
In addition, the final four episodes of the series titled "To The Ultra Star!" will be combined into a 90-minute feature length film as one of the set's bonus features, which has new footage not seen in the original TV series. It will also feature a new narration from Sumi Shimamoto, who played the anime's heroine, Mutsumi Hoshikawa. This version will also feature Dolby Atmos remastered audio.
Lastly, the limited edition version of the Blu-ray set will include storyboard of the final episode titled "To The Ultra Star! Conclusion: Towards Peace and Victory", which is hand-drawn by Yoshiyuki Tomino (Mobile Suit Gundam) in a 160-page condensed edition for the first time! The☆Ultraman Blu-ray BOX set cost 41,800 yen, and is set for a November 22nd release.
